Not this one, my Lapierrer that doesn’t work because I can’t get the parts sourced.
You see all of those cars? Well, I could’ve been one of those, but instead, I took my bicycle to the office today. It was a slow day, only stayed there a couple of hours before being ushered out “come on, kid, I wanna get home early” my boss said.
A portion of my route.
I could’ve chosen a more efficient route, but, I love Chapultepec park.
By the way... if you like noodles; Yamasan is as good as they get here in Mexico City; just tell them to lay off the salt a bit.

man... since getting a new job my little bike ride has been ruined (my new job is about 3 streets away from my old job.... but thats the difference between having a ride that follows the canals and one thats just boring city traffic:P)
(yes i could just take my canal route and then cut across... but thats longer.. and im very lazy)

Well, I mean...considering the traffic here is insane at the rush hour, I’d be happy to keep using it.
A friend of mine works only 4km away from his house and leaving at the rush hour would make him take 40-60 minutes home, might as well walk!
He uses an electric bike and since his job is literally filled with bike paths, he gets around quite quickly.
I’m a bit luckier I guess because I can get away with using the elevated ring road whenever I need to go to college, but today I wanted to take the bicycle out.

i live in a tiny city of about 65 k people... peak traffic aint all that bad here (hell it should probably be called a town... but some wierd old laws made it officially a city)
my idea of bad traffic just means i actually have to wait at the lights rather than just blow straight through coz noones there :p

i cycle as i dont own a car anymore (bye little panda i miss you)
but yeah driving isnt to much of a pain in the arse here.... parking is a bitch tho
but on the whole the bike is just easier and not much slower

My old job was a roughly 10 mile ride away. Winter and the crap state of some roads and sidewalks in Metro Detroit make it less magical, but it was always a lot of fun to ride in and out of work

Fat bike...
Fat bike is like the miata in bikes.
it’s always the answer to all of life’s problems.

Except it doesn’t work so great in packed wet snow which is what you get a lot of in the city (at least my city).

Im certian it works better than normal rubbers?
it’s not an issue to me in not-snowy-at-all Mexico, I’ve got trail rubbers thick enough not to get trapped in railings or road imperfections and thin enough that the bicycle isn’t a pain in the ass to roll.

Wet snow is great for making snowmen but a pain for anything else. Think of the tires as snowplows because you literally have to push the snow out of the way in order to bike through. Wider tire = more snow to push = more effort. But if you have nice fluffy snow it’s different.

I hated wet snow when I snowboarded, but I saw many got away with it by doing something to the board? (I want to say wax it?)
Yeah, I guess thinner tires would cut through the snow easier, but then you also sink and stuff like that... Again I wouldn’t know.. when I did use a fat tyre bike it was compacted snow and it handled like a dream, it wasn’t slushy though...

I wish I worked close enough to home to commute via bicycle. Sadly, the back road (most direct) route is minimum 38 miles, and it’s ALL ridiculous hills. I’ve done it once. Took 4 hours w/breaks and it wrecked me. I had to call my girlfriend to pick me up and drive me home at the end of my shift.

Actually, I’m not so sure. Pedaling in slush is a bitch, but the problem with my adventure bike is that it sinks, but usually either not far enough to grip the pavement—so I just end up spinning my wheel—or the slush is so deep that it’s hard to steer even with pavement contact.
After riding a fat bike on Mackinac Island—admittedly, without a lot of snow—I’m a believer.

I’d say it’s more of a Jeep Wrangler , but hells yes—riding one was a journey of constant giggling and power fantasy.

Last time I did 40km it was like a 600m hike in elevation. At least the way back home was fun! I got up to 80km/h!
